New Book – Pinky Visits the Circus

As a youngster, one of my fondest memories was a family outing to see the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus at Boston Garden. My brothers and I were mesmerized by all of the exotic animals, the daredevils and the skilled performers of the flying trapeze and high-wire. It was my first introduction to the art of Aerial Silk, and to this day many years later, I am still enthralled with the men and women who gracefully entwine themselves in fabric while doing acrobatic feats high in the air.

In my latest book, Pinky Visits the Circus, those same circus acts that wowed me as a child also leave Pinky, her brother Peter and her friend Mary in awe. Just like every other Pinky Frink book, an adorable story with brightly colored illustrations are enhanced by the rhyming verbiage. Along with the big cats, elephants, horses and circus clowns, their are appearances in the book by jugglers, unicyclists, acrobats plus all of the traditional circus aerial acts. Young readers can share the joy and awe experienced by Pinky, her family and her friend as they watch the performance under the big top!

Pinky and I share similar levels of excitement about the circus, so we made a video together to announce the release of Pinky Visits the Circus. Pinky Frink Book Club Coming Summer 2013

I am so excited to share this news with all of the Pinky Frink fans out there! The day I created Pinky, she became an integral part of my life. Besides being a great kid who is devoted to her family and cherishes her friends, she is truly a fantastic role model for youngsters.

The addition of the Pinky Frink Book Club will enable young children to expand their venues for engaging in learning activities and playing educational games in a safe, juvenile-friendly environment.  While club members will have access to coloring pages, interactive games and puzzles, read a-long books and learning materials, there will never be any member-to-member interaction of any sort, thereby preventing predation.

Best of all, membership in the Pinky Frink Book Club is FREE, and that membership gives the child access to tons of learning fun that helps promote literacy, communication, thought processing and motor skills.  Though a very inexpensive paid level of membership (Super Adventure Members), the free level of membership will be rich in quality learning entertainment.

Super Adventure Members will receive discounts on special items (Pinky Frink books, Pinky Frink gear & Pinky Frink clothing) plus have access to Adventure videos (Pinky Frink cartoons) and interactive versions of all Pinky Frink books.

Pinky Frink Stars in Her First Video!

How exciting is it to have your creation, the character you’ve written countless stories about, star in her first video? I can honestly say it just tickles me PINK! I am just so thrilled with how the video clip turned out and as a person who has always promoting literacy and reading to kids at a very early age, I am ecstatic that I have a new tool to introduce Pinky to wee ones and parents alike.

The video launched just in time for Pinky’s next adventure book, Pinky’s Special Present, which is scheduled for release by the end of this month. I want to thank all of the Pinky Frink fans out there – you make my world and Pinky’s a wonderful place to be!

Pinky Outlines Healthy Habits for Kids

How do you respond to a child when they question why they should have water in lieu of a sugary beverage? What do you say when your youngster wants to surf the net without supervision? How do you relay to kids the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle, following safety rules and proper hygiene?

ABC Fun with Pinky Frink!

Learning games make gaining knowledge fun, and that’s just the case in the new book, “Pinky’s Alphabet Fun”, one of the Pinky Frink’s Learning Books just released. Pinky, along with her faithful friend Mary, embarks to find items throughout her home for each letter of the alphabet. Although they can come up with many words that begin with each letter, the game’s rules restrict them to only those things in her house or out in her yard.

The greatest aspect of this darling story in rhyme is that after reading how Mary and Pinky play their alphabet game, you can engage your child in a similar activity to bolster learning their ABC’s. It is commonly accepted that both subject retention and comprehension significantly increase when the learning task is supplemented with an activity. What better way to learn the alphabet than to associate the letters with the names of items around your own home that your child sees regularly?

Pinky Frink Helps a Dyslexic Friend

The word dyslexia comes from the the Greek words “dys” (bad, abnormal, difficult) and “lexis or legein” (word and speak) with the following definition:

“a developmental disorder which can cause learning difficulty in one or more of the areas of reading, writing, and numeracy”

In the latest Pinky Frink Adventure, “Pinky Helps a Friend“, Pinky assists her friend Mary in overcoming some of the obstacles her dyslexia spawns. When poor Mary becomes disheartened and feels ostracized, Pinky helps her practice her writing and keep her stress levels down.  The two girls lay out a plan to help Mary achieve her goal of obtaining a passing grade on her next spelling quiz. With some guidance from her mother, Pinky  engages Mary in activities to assist her in overcoming her learning challenges.

Throughout the adorable, rhyming story, the author weaves subtle hints about friendship, kindness and family values. The brightly colorful, cute illustrations enhance the tale and will capture any young reader’s eye.

In this wonderful fantasy for early juvenile audiences, Pinky has a tremendous space adventure where she encounters strange beings but remembers to always remain polite and heed warnings about interaction with strangers previously provided by her parents. Pinky shows she remembers her parent’s safety guidlines when she doesn’t enter into the strange alien’s home and politely declines offers of beverages for the same reason.

Pinky shares details about her life on earth with the inhabitants of the planet she’s exploring, plus learns some things about their way of life too. The ending has a delightful twist (I won’t give it away here!), and a discerning eye viewing the final page may notice something in the background that may keep the reader guessing!

The wonderful rhyming storyline is enhanced by the colorful, cute illustrations. This book will be a definite plus to any early juvenile library (toddlers to early elementary). Pinky Visits the Zoo – Animals, Facts and Fun!

In her latest adventure, Pinky Visits the Zoo, Pinky Frink makes a visit to the local zoo with friends and family for a fun-filled day of learning about animals. In this adorable, rhyming story, Pinky and her friend Mary gain knowledge about many different wild animals touring the exhibits while accompanied by their mothers. The girls have great fun when the zookeepers provide them with tidbits to feed some of the wildlife, and Pinky gets surprised when a lorikeet lands on her shoulder in the bird sanctuary.

Pinky Frink’s Adventures – What’s New and Coming Soon

Children’s favorite character, Pinky Frink, is a busy gal! Or perhaps it should be stated that Pinky’s kept busy due to the tireless efforts of her creator and author, Granny J, with new releases in both print and digital format almost every month. The latest adventure, “A Surprise for Pinky” just hit the market this past week, with the adoption of a new baby boy, Peter expanding the Frink family. Along with highlighting the changes the new edition causes in the household, the charming rhyming story also depicts the feelings a child may experience once the baby arrives.

 As with every book in the Pinky Frink series, we find a well-mannered, respectful young lady, who respects parental authority.  Though not perfect by any means, Pinky always takes responsibility for her actions and learns lessons along the way. Pinky’s Happy Holiday – Kids on a Cruise!

How does one enjoy a vacation full of historical sites, water sports, shopping and high sea fun? Why, you go on a cruise – and that’s just what the Frink family does in Pinky Frink’s latest adventure, “Pinky’s Happy Holiday“. In this fun, rhyming tale Pinky has her first experience afloat on the sea. Accompanied by both her parents,  Pinky is kept very busy with lots of fun activities.

A day at the ship’s kids camp results in making a new friend. The family also enjoys many different excursions, including climbing to the top of an Aztec temple, water tubing, kayaking and a swim with the dolphins. On a trip to the waterfall, when Pinky is afraid of the rushing water, she knows she only has to hold on tight to her mother. Of course no vacation would be complete without some shopping time, so Cozumel sees the Frink family go on a shopping trip. Pinky really enjoys getting all decked out for the captain’s dinner on formal night, wearing her pink evening dress with a pink rose in her hair.

When the excitement of the day overtakes poor Pinky, her mother must remind her to settle down, but all in all, she is a mannered, well behaved child. As with all of Pinky’s adventures, this one contains gentle hints about respecting your parent’s authority and acting responsibly.
